Our Lady of Good Counsel

Introduction

The church was built in 1964-5 by Gillespie, Kidd and Coia. The church has an irregular quadrilateral plan and is faced in brown brick.

Architecture and furnishings

The interior is divided into three bays by two rows of three concrete columns that carry the main beams. The interior is finished in facing brick, and the roof is lined in pine. On the west gallery, the sacristy and confessionals are located below. The east front has a low brick wall, timber-framed strip glazing at eaves, and doorways to left and right, the latter inset approached by brick stairs.

The east front has a dramatic tapering copper-clad roof raked in two directions from right to left, with deep eaves fascia. The west front is similar to the east but lower, with a parallel roof and glazing.
