Music and liturgy

The parish uses the Celebration hymnbook for music at funerals. A soloist can be arranged to sing at Sacred Heart church for a funeral. Recorded music or words are not permitted during a funeral mass or service.

Parish life

Children's Liturgy is held after Sunday Mass at both churches. Tea and coffee are served after Mass on alternate Sundays at Sacred Heart Church and on the last Sunday each month at St Cuthbert's Church.

Clergy and authorised lay ministers take Holy Communion to the sick, housebound, those in care homes and those in hospital. The parish is developing working relationships with other faith groups. The parish runs programmes to help people explore their faith in an informal setting. The parish is developing more active involvement and leadership among its laypeople. The parish is seeking new ways of reaching out into the community.

Visiting

The parish maintains a WhatsApp channel for updates from the Archdiocese of Liverpool. The parish runs an RCIA Course open for applications from those who are unbaptised, baptised outside the Catholic Church, or seeking the sacrament of Confirmation. The parish participates in the Llysfasi Spirituality Workshop, a residential programme at the Loreto Spirituality Centre in Llandudno. The parish is involved with the Guild of St Stephen pilgrimage to Lourdes, organised by the Liverpool Archdiocesan Council. The parish maintains a prayer list for the sick and housebound, with names published in the newsletter and on the internet.
