Parish life

St Matthew's Foodbank operates in partnership with the Trussell Trust and Ayrshire (East) Foodbank. St Matthew's identifies as a family-oriented community comprising young families and long-serving parishioners. Community celebrations, called Penitential Services, take place in Advent and Lent.

Sacraments and pastoral care

Adults seeking to enter the Church must complete the RCIA program before baptism. During Lent, RCIA includes special moments of prayer, with sacraments often given at the Easter Vigil.

Infant Baptism is usually celebrated during Sunday Mass or as a separate service after Mass. The Sacrament of the Sick is celebrated during a special Mass for the Sick, usually once a year. The Sacrament of the Sick is given when the priest visits sick people in their homes. Hospital patients can arrange for the Chaplain to visit. Engaged couples must give at least six months notice before a wedding to enable marriage preparation.
