About St Alban-on-the-Moors –Cardiff
St Alban-on-the-Moors –Cardiff is a Roman Catholic church in Splott, South Glamorgan. It is part of the Archdiocese of Cardiff-Menevia.
Introduction
St Alban-on-the-Moors in Splott, Cardiff, was built in 1911 by F R Bates of Newport, architect. The church is listed at Grade II, designated on 08/04/1997. It is described as a relatively rare large-scale resourcefully-composed example of Roman Catholic church.
Architecture and furnishings
The church is built of Pennant sandstone with bathstone dressings in free perpendicular style. The church has a cruciform plan with shouldered tower. The tower has a pyramidal roof and castellated parapets. The west front has a relief of pelican in tabernacle at gable apex. The interior has a broad nave with scissor-braced roof on carved stone corbels.
