About St Anne (Gem Church), Blackburn
St Anne (Gem Church), Blackburn is a Roman Catholic church in Blackburn, Lancashire. It is part of the Diocese of Salford.
Introduction
The centenary of the laying of the foundation-stone at St Anne's was commemorated on 4 July 2025 with Mass celebrated by the local bishop. St Anne's was restored and reopened on 13 June 2004, 18 months after a fire.
Parish life
The parish runs a Zambia project aiming to help individuals in Zambia improve their lives. The project has enabled orphans in the care of nuns to return to school and has helped equip a young man with land and tools for a small holding.
At the centenary Mass, the Bishop cut the ribbons to formally open the newly-created prayer-garden and the school chapel. Refreshments and a celebration cake were provided in the school hall, with photographs of parish life on display.
