Introduction
Saint Anthony’s Knanaya Catholic Proposed Mission in Cardiff was established on 9th December 2018.
History
In the early years, Holy Mass was celebrated twice monthly in Cardiff on the second and fourth Sundays. The faithful are working toward receiving full canonical status as a Mission. From 27 March 2026, a new mission coordinator took over. Every year on June 13th, the mission celebrates the Feast of Saint Anthony of Padua.
Music and liturgy
The mission celebrates four Holy Masses every month in Cardiff and one in Swansea. The mission has seven Koodarayogams (prayer groups) that gather regularly. The Legion of Mary – Queen of Angels Presidium for women conducts prayer meetings every Sunday. Key events include a 10-day rosary, Catechism Annual Day, All Saints’ Day, Christmas Nativity, Father’s Day and Mother’s Day celebrations, Family Fun Day, Pilgrimage, Mission Sports Day and Vanakkamasam.
Parish life
The mission serves Knanaya Catholic faithful across South Wales, including Cardiff, Newport, Swansea, Camarthen, Brynmawr, and Barry. Catechism classes are held with every Sunday Mass. The mission's location is St Illtyd’s Catholic High School Chapel, Newport Rd, Rumney, CF3 1XQ.
