About St. Dunstan, Bourne End

St. Dunstan, Bourne End is a Roman Catholic church in Bourne End, Buckinghamshire. It is part of the Diocese of Northampton.

Introduction

The Bourne End congregation attended Mass in the dance hall at the Red Lion pub near the railway station.

Music and liturgy

In Saint Dunstan's Hall, the parish Children's Liturgy Group celebrates the Liturgy of the Word. A craft or game linked to that week's Gospel accompanies the child-friendly presentation of the Word in children's liturgy. Adults and young people in the Saint Francis' Musicians play keyboard, guitars, flutes, clarinets, recorders, violin and cello.

Parish life

At Mass, readers proclaim the Word of God and announce the intentions in the Prayers of the Faithful. Parishioners arriving for weekend Masses are greeted by volunteer welcomers, who sometimes also welcome people at parish activities.

An SVP conference belonging to the parish, run with Saint Teresa's, Beaconsfield, is active locally and internationally. Overseas conferences in India and Grenada are twinned with the SVP conference.

In February 2022 the parish formed a joint CAFOD team with Saint Teresa's, Beaconsfield, and Saint Augustine's, High Wycombe. The parish is served by Saint Peter's Catholic Combined School in Marlow.

The parish hall can be hired for functions, sports classes or yoga classes. The parish hall has toilets, disabled toilets and a small kitchen with a stove, washing-up facilities, crockery, cutlery and kettles.

Sacraments and pastoral care

Ministers of the Eucharist help distribute Communion at Mass, and some take Communion to the sick or housebound. Sharing our Faith is the name of the parish RCIA programme. Children may be baptised at the parish.
