About St Edward - Runcorn
St Edward - Runcorn is a Roman Catholic church in Runcorn, Cheshire. It is part of the Diocese of Shrewsbury.
Music and liturgy
In 2013, many members of the congregation and those of other churches across the Local Pastoral Area performed a musical, Born for This, which became the Runcorn Passion in the local shopping area on Holy Saturday. In the Autumn of 2015, the parish took part in another musical production, Tales of Wonder, at Saint Chad's with children from Primary Schools across the town and the High School.
Parish life
The SVP meet biweekly to strengthen Vincentian spirituality, grow in friendship and conduct matters of business, with core work being weekly visits to the sick, housebound and lonely. A small group provides practical support to bereaved families, including a sympathetic listener, help and support in prayer. An annual mass of remembrance is held in November along with intentions being said at most masses.
Regular events
The parish supports Christian Aid by taking part in the annual door-to-door collection and supporting events arranged by the town's Christian Aid committee. The Ladies Group meet socially on a fortnightly basis in Saint Edward's Parish Room on Wednesday evenings. After Sunday morning Masses tea/coffee, juice and biscuits are available in the hall.
