St Gabriel's

Parish life

The parish youth group meets once a month. The parish runs a baptism preparation course held every month. The parish prepares young people in Year 9 and above for Confirmation.

Sacraments and pastoral care

Parents must attend a preparation course before arranging a baptism date. Children in Year 3 and above are prepared for Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Children not in a Catholic school must complete the Parish R.E. Programme before preparing for Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Couples must give at least six months' notice of an intended wedding.

Both parties must attend a Couple's Course for marriage preparation. The priest helps plan the funeral liturgy during funeral preparation. Masses for the dead are arranged through the parish office.

Visiting

The parish has a Director of Music who is happy to help with wedding music and would normally play the organ, unless another arrangement is requested. For weddings, it may be possible for the flower teams at both churches to help with flowers, and couples can employ their own florist who will need to make arrangements with the parish. Video recording is not normally allowed at weddings in the church.
