About St Mary-in-the-Elms, Woodhouse Eaves
St Mary-in-the-Elms is a Church of England church in Woodhouse Eaves, Leicestershire, where the St Mary-in-the-Elms Roman Catholic Group, in the Diocese of Nottingham, has Sunday Mass celebrated by the Dominican Friars of Holy Cross.
Music and liturgy
During the 1980s, the chaplain and his successors said Mass regularly at Saint Mary's. The Dominican friars in Leicester agreed to come to Woodhouse each Sunday and celebrate Mass at Saint Mary-in-the-Elms.
Parish life
Since 2013, the Catholic congregation has celebrated Holy Matrimony within Saint Mary's. In July 2025, the congregation marked twenty years of worship with Holy Cross Parish by walking a ten-mile hike from Saint Mary's to the Holy Door at Holy Cross Church in Leicester. In 2005, the Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Congregation Group (SMRCG) was organised with Michael Kelly as Chair and Liz Bolt as Treasurer. The congregation can have family funerals in Saint Mary's, the church of their choice.
Parking is available in Woodhouse Community Hall carpark opposite the church on Forest Road. The car park includes four disabled parking bays.
