Introduction
St Urban's Church stands on Grove Road in Leeds, within the Diocese of Leeds. It belongs to the parish of St Jeanne Jugan, which also includes Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
History
The present St Urban's church opened in 1963. From 1902 to 1951 the parish was a chapel-of-ease to the Cathedral, with the chapel on Brookfield Road. The old chapel became the parish hall, which was later demolished.
Notable features
Aidan Hart painted the fresco in St Urban's sanctuary and the cross above the sanctuary. An icon of St Urban was commissioned from Aidan Hart for the Holy Year of 2025.
