About Saint Ann

Saint Ann is a Roman Catholic church in Mossblown, South Ayrshire. It is part of the Diocese of Galloway.

Introduction

Saint Ann's parish in Mossblown, within the Diocese of Galloway, was established to serve the growing Catholic population of the town and surrounding villages during the twentieth century.

History

By the late 1950s, the parish covered Mossblown, Tarbolton, Coylton and Drongan, with an estimated Catholic population of around 740. For much of the twentieth century, the village revolved around coal mining, with many parishioners employed in local pits or associated industries. As employment patterns changed, the parish adapted to serve a smaller but committed congregation. Saint Ann's remains an active parish working closely with neighbouring Catholic parishes in South Ayrshire.
