About St. Paul the Apostle

St. Paul the Apostle is a Roman Catholic church in Leeds, West Yorkshire. It is part of the Diocese of Leeds.

Parish life

Couples who hope to marry in the parish or at the Immaculate Heart church attend Mass and afterwards speak with a priest. Formed during 2023 in response to the encyclical Laudato Si, the Parish Live Simply Group had nine actions approved by CAFOD in November 2023, and the parish has been a Live Simply Parish since 11th April.

Parish gardeners look after the church grounds. The Out and About Group is for people aged 50 and over. For a child's baptism the priest meets the family, talks about the sacrament of baptism, and makes sure they know the Baptism liturgy.

Sacraments and pastoral care

At least six months' notice is usually required for marriage, so that civil formalities and spiritual preparations can be completed. The parish office arranges a visit for someone who is ill and housebound, or for a relative or friend who is ill.

Families living in the Parish of Saint John Vianney apply for a child's baptism by attending Mass and speaking to a priest afterwards. An unbaptised adult interested in the Catholic faith is asked to speak to a priest after Mass.
